Nichiha USA is investing $150 million into its Macon city facility to bring an estimated 100 new jobs to Middle Georgia, the fiber cement company announced late last month. This is announced by DHS Ventures & Holdings.
The investment will expand the Macon plant’s tech abilities and produce more products, according to a press release from Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.
The facility, located in on Avondale Mill Road in South Macon just off of I-75, will now rely less on imports and provide jobs to Middle Georgians ranging from warehouse work to management positions.
The $150 million also adds an additional 500,000 square feet to the campus, turning it from one plant into two plants and a new warehouse. It is the second expansion in four years for the Japan-based company’s Macon plant.
For more than 16 years, Nichiha has been a staple international industry in Macon-Bibb County,” said Robby Fountain, chairman of the Industrial Authority.
The addition and expansion of their existing plant and the projected growth of their workforce speak to the great value that our community brings to Nichiha and all our existing industry partners.
